CDS Means Combined Defence Service, is
the examination through which Gentlemen Cadets are selected for the Indian Defence
Forces. This examination is used to select officers for the Indian Air Force,
Indian Navy, and Indian Army.
For Indian Army officers, recruitment
takes place through IMA (Indian Military Academy) and OTA (Officer Training
Academy), while for the Air Force, recruitment takes place through AFA (Air
Force Academy) and for the Indian Navy, recruitment takes place through INA
(Indian Naval Academy).
CDS 1 2026 NOTIFICATION
- For your information, the CDS 1 2026 notification is scheduled for December 10, 2025.
- The CDS exam is conducted twice a year, with the first exam held in April and the second in September.
- This exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
- It is a written exam.
Eligibility Conditions:
1. For Indian Military Academy (IMA) -
Unqualified candidates for IMA born not earlier than January 2, 2003, nor later
than January 1, 2008 (age limit determined as of January 1, 2027).
2. For Air Force Academy (AFA) -
Unqualified candidates for AFA born not earlier than January 2, 2003, nor later
than January 1, 2007.
For candidates who have already been
issued a Commercial Pilot License by the DGCA, they must have been born not
earlier than January 2, 2002, nor later than January 1, 2007.
3. For Indian Naval Academy (INA) -
Unqualified candidates for INA born not earlier than January 2, 2003, nor later
than January 1, 2008.
4. For the Officers Training Academy - This is open to both boys and girls, and unmarried candidates born no earlier than January 2, 2002, and no later than January 1, 2007.
